THE ROYAL NORFOLK SHOW 2010
Thousands Flock to Sun Drenched Show
The 2010 Royal Norfolk Show is being acclaimed as the biggest and best Show ever with over 94,000 people visiting during two of the hottest and sunniest days of the year.
The agricultural Show, which is the largest two day Show in the Country, had plenty to offer this year with livestock numbers at an all time record, more trade stands than ever and new attractions such as the Vintage Fairground which was enjoyed by young and old alike.
The Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association, who organise the two day event, are very proud of their heritage. The Show has been running since 1847 and each year new attractions are added for the public whilst the agricultural element is kept to the fore. The Show aims to promote all that is best about Norfolk and always encourages local producers and traders to take stands at the Show to showcase the best our County has to offer.
The Show's origins are agricultural and even this element of the event grows year on year. For the first time this year there was a dead heat in the Dairy Interbreed and the judge awarded first prize to four animals he could not seperate! The livestock classes were very well supported and received by exhibitors who travelled from as far a way as Devon to attend the nationally acclaimed Show.
The first prize in the agricultural section, which was donated by Her Majesty the Queen, was awarded to the beef cattle section this year and was won by a local exhibitor, Mr Nick Barrett from South Wotton, for the best animal in the section.
As an Association, the RNAA tries to use local suppliers wherever possible. Anyone interested in taking a trade stand, supplying a service to the Show, becoming a member of the Association or sponsoring one of the events at the 2011 Show should contact sarah@norfolkshowground.com.
The 2011 Show will take place on 29th and 30th June. There is a school closure day on 30th to ensure as many local school children as possible can visit in 2011.
